Attended the annual conference of the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America (APITLA) in St. Louis over the weekend of May 15th – 17th. A great organization truly dedicated to making the highways in this country safer from trucking companies and their drivers who violate rules and statutes by driving over hours of service or driving unsafe rigs. Truly inspired by the dedication of the members of this organization to prevent the rising incidence of fatal and catastrophic injuries due to unsafe trucking practices. A head’s up from the conference: keep a lookout on June 5th through the 7th. In the days before June 5th, enforcement agencies across the country will be out to check on safety compliance and when they finish on the 4th of June, unsafe operators who stayed off the roads during that period will be back out on the roads attempting to make up miles and money.
